Uplift the Underdog: Cat Edition contest.
Hurricane Michael is the strongest storm
on record to hit Florida’s Panhandle, placing
375,000 people under evacuation orders from
government and weather officials. As people
evacuated, unfortunately, many pets were left
behind, resulting in overcrowded and under-supplied animal shelters and rescue organizations. To help aid those impacted by the storm, Petcurean is donating food with help from its
“As yet another devastating storm displaces people and their pets, we hope that our
contribution provides some form of comfort and aid to those impacted by Hurricane Michael’s
destruction,” said Christine Mallier, PR and community relations manager at Petcurean.
Petcurean is committed to helping pets and pet parents that are impacted by natural
disasters and supporting the incredible animal rescue groups that work tirelessly to assist
animals in need. In 2018, Petcurean made 196 donations, for a total of more than 42,300
lbs. of food to date.
Uplift the Underdog: Cat Edition’s goal was to help increase adoption consideration for
underdog cats, or cats who are traditionally less likely to get adopted due to age, medical
challenges, appearance or other issues.
It’s estimated that each year, 3.2 million cats enter U.S. animal shelters, and despite
research showing that the majority are healthy and adoptable, 70 percent of those cats are
to see beyond the
tions and focusing
on the amazing heart and spirit of the cats, the Uplift the Underdog: Cat Edition contest will
help shelter cats find the loving homes they deserve.
The contest is an evolution of the company’s Uplift the Underdog contest held earlier this
year, which resulted in several of the finalists being adopted. Rescue organizations entered
their most overlooked, but deserving, cats for the chance to win a lifetime supply of Petcurean
food for the winning cat and a 500 lb. donation of pet food to the shelter or rescue group.
“The Uplift the Underdog: Cat Edition contest intends to shine a light on cats that were
rescued but haven’t been adopted and still need loving homes,” said Christine Mallier, PR and
community relations manager at Petcurean. “We want to encourage people to adopt shelter
cats of all ages and types while also supporting the animal shelters across the nation who
often have limited resources.”
After completing the online application form, eight finalists will move to the next round.
During the finalist round, consumers will vote for their favorite cat through Petcurean’s
website. The cat that receives the most votes within one week will be awarded the grand prize.
The winner will be announced on Dec. 3, 2018.
The grand prize winner will receive a lifetime supply for Petcurean cat food, a feature in a
Petcurean marketing campaign, promotion on Petcurean’s website and social media, a 500 lb.
donation of Petcurean pet food to the winning cat’s shelter/rescue group and a Petcurean gift
basket filled with supplies, toys and more.
All finalists will receive a one year supply of Petcurean cat food, a 500 lb. donation of
Petcurean pet food to the winning cat’s shelter and a Petcurean gift basket filled with supplies,
toys and more.
